Months ago I posted about Metz's native son, the stormy poet Paul Verlaine. He's pictured here in a posthumous portrait from 1906 by Natalie Gontcharova (Strasbourg Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, from the collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris).
Verlaine's life ended in Paris, in this 5th-Arondissement building, which now houses a restaurant called La Maison de Verlaine.
