Starting a Week in the Alps

Susie and I have arrived in a hamlet outside the village of Thônes, which is itself east and uphill of Annecy, in the Savoie. We'll be staying for a week, hiking and writing. Our Internet access is through public wifi from the Thônes Tourism Office; I'm sitting on bench outside the Tourism Office as a I write this.
